BookitLyst

Research and Design

BookitLyst is a bespoke travel booking service that provides a personalized booking experience for millennials. It’s aimed at avid travelers who seek unique experiences and destinations that go beyond traditional travel in favor of booking dream vacations. Our team was tasked with designing a mobile app that hooks users with inspiring content and a customized booking experience.

To start, we needed to understand how millennials travel. We sent out a Google Survey to try to gauge these behaviors and asked questions like:

  • What is your primary goal when you travel?
  • Who do you travel with the most?
  • Which sites or mobile apps do you use to book travel/accommodations?

We received over 100+ responses and found some common themes:

We also started talking with our stakeholder to understand the business requirements. It was a long list so we decided to have the stakeholder perform a card sort to prioritize and start building an MVP using the MSCW method.

Next, we put together two personas based on the archetypes we found:

For the final design we opted for an instagram-like experience that draws in the user’s attention with inspirational photography.

A natural-language input was used to further create the personalized feeling of booking one’s dream vacation.
